Wallis Knot is dedicated to hosting the readings of plays, both old and new; introducing never before performed plays and uncovering noteworthy plays from our theater history past. ***********************
Our first Meet the Author reading series was begun in November 2008 with an evening dedicated to the reading of two new plays by New Dramatist and Edgar Award winning writer Joseph Goodrich. Joe's two plays, Panic and Smoke & Mirrors, were published by Samuel French in the fall of 2008.
The event took place at the New York Conservatory for Dramatic Arts. The reading featured writer/actors Joseph Goodrich and Honor Molloy, Wallis Knot company members Connie Rotunda, David Del Rio, Richard Omar, Annalisa Chamberlin and Eileen Connolly, and special guest Erik Liberman (www.erikliberman.org), as well as several students from the New York Conservatory for Dramatic Arts.
Both of these new plays is available at amazon.com and at New York's Drama Book Shop.
***************** Our first Closed Out Of Town reading series began with our event on January 13, 2009 and featured the 1936 comic mystery play by Ellery Queen entitled Danger, Men Working which has not been performed in New York City, or elsewhere for that matter, since the rehearsals for the original 1936 production! We love this little piece of theater history finally being given a chance to breathe again. We thank the Ellery Queen Estate for granting us permission to perform their script.
